At one time, Kinzua Bridge was one of the tallest railroad bridges in the world. The bridge collapsed under the pressure of a tornado in 2003. In 2009 PELET was tasked with turning the remaining structure into an observation deck named the Kinzua Sky Walk. The observation deck included a glass window looking down to the ground.
PELET fabricated replacement trusses to support the skywalk and a structural frame for the see-through floor. The materials included Grade A588 weathering steel and A325 Type III bolts. We also fabricated and powder coated the pedestian railings that enclose the walkway and deck.
